I grew up in a small coffee town in Brazil, surrounded by the sights, sounds, and aromas of the coffee industry. It’s where my passion for specialty coffee was born – and from where I have been lucky enough to start a journey across roasting, research, exporting, and importing. Now as a co-founder of Bossa Coffee Company, I’m on a mission to bridge the gap between my two worlds, bringing the expertise and authenticity of Brazilian coffee farmers to the UK Specialty Coffee scene and hopefully beyond.
For far too long, the trading industry has been dominated by a select few, and we believe it could use a change. We know that big trading companies these days are basically financial institutions and play a vital role for the growth of coffee consumption, but we also believe there is space for specialised origin professionals to make a change in their country and at their coffee community. We want to also inspire the new generations, which need to know the value of pursuing a career in the coffee industry – a very important topic these days which I would like to contribute as much as possible.
The fear of being too small to matter stopped me from opening Bossa Coffee Company much earlier. We might not be big enough to generate statistical impact, but we certainly aim to generate an impact in people’s mentality. Especially connecting to farmers in Brazil and showing them we can be in each step of the supply chain. My friends and family or people that know me since I started as the daughter of a coffee exporter who pursued a career abroad have a Brazilian representing them and their coffees, someone they relate to.
So why Bossa Coffee Company? Both suffering from burnout and the limitations of traditional coffee companies, my business partner Emma and I knew we had to do things differently. Our goal is simple yet profound – to bring genuinely delicious, consistent coffees to the market, sourced from trusted relationships cultivated over two decades of combined coffee experience. And as we navigate the complexity of the coffee supply chain, we’re committed to redefining what it means to source transparently and competitively.
So, join us on this journey. Together, let’s challenge the norms and create a future where every cup tells a story of empowerment and genuine origin connection.
